Applied in Real Time Systems.
Using a straightforward serial interface to interface with the microcontroller, the DS1302 clock chip—which has a real-time clock/calendar and 31 bytes of static RAM—is introduced and gradually charged. The information provided by a real-time clock/calendar circuit includes seconds, minutes, hours, days, weeks, months, and years. It also automatically adjusts for leap years and the number of days in each month. The clock can be set to either 12 or AM/PM.
opted to employ a 24-hour format. Three port lines are all that are needed for synchronous serial communication between the DS1302 and the microcontroller: I/O data lines and the RST reset (3) A serial clock that uses SCLK. Clock and RAM can read and write data to a byte or up to 31 bytes when communicating in character set fashion. DS1302
